Searcher sets sail for phase two in the Pelotas Basin

08.01.2025

Searcher are pleased to announce that we have started Phase Two of our groundbreaking MC3D in the Pelotas Basin. Working with our partners, Shearwater Geoservices, phase two commenced at the start of this year and utilises the state-of-the-art SW Empress.

The continuation of the Pelotas MC3D survey, which began in 2024, demonstrates Searcher and Shearwater’s dedication to unlocking the mysteries within one of the least explored tertiary-cretaceous delta on earth.

The Pelotas Basin shares a conjugate margin pairing with the Orange Basin which is increasingly recognised as an emerging super basin of global significance and is a basin where Searcher and Shearwater lead the way with a significant data library.
We are also delighted to announce that fast-track data from Phase One of the survey, completed earlier this year, is now available, providing critical insights into the Pelotas Basin’s geological characterisation.

Richie Miller, Vice President Americas at Searcher said

“Completing the first phase of our Pelotas survey has brought us immense pride and excitement. It marks a significant milestone for Searcher as we extend our successful track record from the Orange Basin into the Pelotas Basin and we are excited about phase two, demonstrating our drive to accelerate discovery and unlock the mysteries of the subsurface”
