Searcher Sets Sail for Phase Three of Pelotas Basin 3D Seismic Survey

18.11.2025

Searcher, along with our project partner Shearwater, are pleased to announce the commencement of Phase Three of our Pelotas Basin 3D seismic acquisition campaign, offshore Brazil. This next phase continues the successful expansion of Searcher’s data library in this promising frontier basin.

Phase Three, which will utilise the SW Empress, will add a further 7,500 sq km of high-quality 3D data to the program, building upon the 9,500 sq km already acquired as part of the Survey. The campaign has progressively expanded Searcher’s footprint in the basin, creating a contiguous and comprehensive dataset for explorers.

The Pelotas Basin shares conjugate margins with the prolific Orange Basin, recognized as an emerging super basin. This geological relationship strengthens Pelotas’ exploration potential, drawing significant industry attention following recent discoveries on the African margin. By leveraging insights from across this conjugate trend, explorers have an opportunity to unlock new plays and prospectivity on the South American side.

“We are excited to continue building on the momentum of our Pelotas Basin project,” stated Richie Miller, Searcher’s Vice President Americas. “This third phase underscores our commitment to providing the industry with high-quality, continuous data coverage in this highly prospective region. Our collaboration with Shearwater ensures that we maintain the highest standards of data quality and operational efficiency, delivering valuable insights to our clients to support their exploration strategies.”
