Extending the Venus and Graff Plays into South Africa
The Orange Basin extends across the coasts of both Namibia and South Africa, capturing significant interest due to its high exploration potential. Building on the successful completion of the first four phases in Namibian waters, Phase 5 marks our inaugural venture into the South African Orange Basin.
This impressive survey encompasses over 9,000 square kilometers of multi-client 3D seismic data adjacent to the Namibian border. It includes the extension of the Venus basin floor fan and onlap play, as well as slope Graff-style channel analogues. Utilizing multi-component streamers for de-ghosting, this survey provides an exceptional dataset for extending the Venus and Graff plays from Namibia into South Africa.
By combining this dataset with our work in Namibia, we now have over 21,500 square kilometers of MC3D data in the Orange Basin, representing the most extensive data collection in this vital region.
Searcher is fully committed to advancing exploration in one of the world’s most exciting super basins, demonstrating our leadership and dedication to unlocking new hydrocarbon resources.
