Searcher has successfully completed Phase 2 of the Namibian Orange Basin Multi-Client 3D Seismic Survey campaign. This significant milestone builds upon the achievements of Phase 1 and continues our collaboration with Shearwater and NAMCOR to explore the full potential of the Orange Basin.
Phase 2 spans an extensive area of 5,000 square kilometres over PEL 3 acreage, contributing to a total of over 6,700 square kilometres of 3D seismic data acquired in Namibia during the 2022-2023 season. This represents the largest multi-client 3D offering in the entire Orange Basin.
The acquired datasets provide comprehensive insights, ranging from regional scale understanding and prospect de-risking to detailed field development imaging. Offshore Namibia has garnered attention due to recent deepwater discoveries, with the Orange Basin recognised for its thick sedimentary sequences, favourable structural features, and prolific source rocks.
The survey, collected across block PEL 3 was tailored to map the reservoir geology of the Kudu gas field, the up-dip area of the Orange Basin’s extensive GDFTB, and the channels leading to Galp’s mopane discovery. Our cutting-edge data will offer unprecedented insights for the industry, supporting you in your quest for new discoveries.
