Maud Basin South 3D Seismic Survey

Uncovering new prospects in the Barents Sea

Maud Basin South’s 3D Seismic Survey straddles over an impressive 1,846 square kilometers, located a notch south-southwest of the Wisting oil and gas discovery in the Barents Sea. This survey covers areas of the southern Maud Basin’s margins and basins, offering a significant elevation in data quality and unveiling an abundance of new venture possibilities within this prolific province.

With the utilisation of high-end 3D seismic vessels, the Polar Duchess and the Sanco Sword, coupled with the application of SHarp BroadBand technology, the data resolution and clarity have been remarkably enhanced. This has necessitated a more precise delineation of potential reservoirs and hydrocarbon traps. The insight from the Maud Basin South 3D Seismic Survey data not only aids in uncovering fresh exploration opportunities but also enriches the overall understanding of the geological structure of the Barents Sea, presenting it as an essential tool for future hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation in the region.
