Large parts of the offshore basins in the Gulf of Papua, Eastern Platform and adjacent Coral Sea remain unexplored, however, regional considerations and interpretation (mainly from 2D seismic) suggest substantial petroleum potential may exist in a number of areas.
In order to further de-risk the petroleum potential of the area, the Davaria Non-Exclusive Geochemical Study was conducted with the aim of demonstrating that active petroleum systems are present and to high grade those areas with the best potential for further exploration.
To identify the optimal locations for the corer and subsequent geochemical sampling, satellite seep data, multi-beam bathymetry, and sub-bottom profiling data was acquired and analysed. Additionally, heat flow data was acquired to be used for understanding present day heat flow and constraining basin models. The data and results of which are supplied as part of the Study
