Big Bird 3D Reprocessing

Bird is the Word – Cutting-Edge Seismic Data for North Sea Exploration

The Big Bird 3D Reprocessing covers an estimated 730 square kilometers, generating a considerable improvement in data quality and uncovering fresh exploration opportunities within the prolific North Sea. The integration of Full Waveform Inversion (FWI) and pre-Stack Depth Migration significantly enhances the low-frequency content, crucial for imaging within strategic hydrocarbon fields, which are often complex and attenuative.

Legacy processing relied on simple broadband and 3D seismic data for demultiple, whereas the current reprocessing employed targeted demultiple and amplitude-preserving techniques to address intricate diffracted multiples associated with the Buzzard Oil field and enable high-resolution modelling to improve imaging of the Kittiwake and Forties field development platforms.
