East Canning 2D Reprocessing

Cracking the Canning Code – Next-Level Seismic Insights for Mineral Exploration

The East Canning 2022 Reprocessing provides significant geological uplift of direct relevance for mineral exploration. Key lines were selected and reprocessed by Howman Seismic Services.

The reprocessed data clearly images prospective Canning basin sediments and delineates important shallow intra-basin faults and crustal-scale basin-margin structures; all crucial for determining mineralising fluid pathways and highlighting structural and stratigraphic traps.

Selected lines from the Lake Hevern 2D survey were reprocessed again in 2024 by Southern Geoscience to enable further enhancing of steep faults along the eastern margin of the Canning Basin (associated with the long-lived crustal-scale Lasseter Shear Zone) and better imaging of the shallow Proterozoic sequences in the Hidden and Murraba Basins to the east.  Both factors are of key importance to mineral exploration in the project area. The reprocessing increased the bandwidth and improved imaging particularly in the shallow section.
