Acquisition of the Haere Non-Exclusive 2D Seismic Survey in the Gulf of Papua is now over 80% complete with the seismic vessel; BGP Explorer, averaging 150 km per day with safe and effective operations.

Searcher Seismic visited PNG during the recent port call in Port Moresby to congratulate the crew on their fast, efficient and incident free operations and to give the PNG government and local stakeholders the opportunity to tour the BGP Explorer which has been operating in PNG waters since November 2015.

Odd Larsen, Director of Searcher Seismic recognised the benefits of visiting countries where Searcher is currently operating.

“Port visits are a great opportunity for Searcher to personally thank the crew for their hard work, often undertaken in harsh operating conditions and to show appreciation for their excellent adherence to and performance of HSE expectations and standards”.

BGP Explorer

Mr Larsen said it also serves as an opportunity for Searcher and the BGP crew to introduce the seismic vessel and to discuss the technology and operations with stakeholders whom may not have had had much exposure to the seismic industry.

A number of representatives from Searcher’s Perth head office visited Port Moresby to attend the port call which included a traditional cultural performance.

The Haere Broadband Non-Exclusive 2D Seismic Survey, in cooperation with the Department of Petroleum and Energy (DPE) and project partner BGP, comprises ~19,000 km of 2D long-offset, high resolution, broadband seismic over the Gulf of Papua.
