Searcher Onboard the Fugro Equator
15 Dec 2016
Representatives from Searcher Seismic were invited to visit the Fugro Equator whilst the vessel made a short crew change and resupply port call in Fremantle, Western Australia, prior to commencing its last mission in search of missing flight, MH370.
On board, is one of the world’s deepest diving Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV), rated at 4,500 meters water depth. Fitted with numerous sensors, the AUV includes multibeam echo sounders (MBES), Side Scan Sonar, Sub-bottom Profiler, Methane Sensor and other environmental sensors that continuously transmit data back to the mother ship, when deployed on pre-programmed missions.
The AUV is valued at US $10M.
