Searcher Seismic in conjunction with project partner TGS have over 30,000 km of Post Stack, PSTM and scanned 2D seismic data over the Gulf of Papua’s offshore Basin and transition zone.

The Gulf of Papua Non-Exclusive 2D Reprocessing Package offers the largest Non-Exclusive database of 2D reprocessed seismic data in Papua New Guinea.

Modern processing has made a significant difference to the seismic quality, particularly to the older vintage data in the eastern frontier area, where it is now possible to see a thick sedimentary section below that was previously believed to be a shallow basement reflector. This has led to a re-interpretation of the geology and an upgrading of the prospectivity of the whole Gulf of Papua region.
